LES POULES A COLIN
THE NEW FACE OF QUEBEC FOLK-TRAD
album morose - adisq nomination 2018
Taking their name from a popular traditional song, Les Poules à Colin are a new take on a time-tested recipe – five childhood friends who still live on the same street, sharing a history of music-making and family ties.
Les Poules are a dynamic and creative group that turn heads wherever they go. These offsprings of trad musicians were immersed in music since childness, whether backstage at international festivals or at lively kitchen jams in Lanaudière, arguably Québec’s most musical region.
Their repertoire is a mix of original and traditional pieces, which reveals gorgeous vocal, instrumental and rhythmic prowess. Fiddle, guitar, bouzouki, banjo, mandolin, piano, bass and foot percussion form a rich and varied backdrop for inventive arrangements.
With major festivals in North America and Australia under their belt, Les Poules à Colin have started touring Europe where they are developing a strong fan base in the UK, France, Italy and Germany, and looking forward to develop new audience in other countries.
The band has released 4 albums.
Sarah Marchand (piano, vocals), Béatrix Méthé (fiddle, vocals), Éléonore Pitre (guitar, vocals), Colin Savoie-Levac (guitar, mandolin, banjo, bouzouki, foot percussion, vocals), Marie-Savoie-Levac (bass, vocals).
