Rocco De Rosa is an Italian pianist and composer. He is best known for his compositions for film, TV, documentaries, theater and dance. Rocco has worked with many Italian film producers and with such artists as Ralph Towner, Maria Pia De Vito, and Martin Kongo, to name a few.

 

The musical approach of Rocca de Rosa refers to the classical tradition of the past while drawing on clear folk, jazz, world, and contemporary influences. 

 

Over the years Rocco has released no less than nine albums, and some of his compositions have been published on various compilations, including Putumayo Records. His last work, Sonoaria (Helikonia, 2015) is displaying the many sides of this soul-searcher with deep Euro-Mediterranean roots. 

 

Rocco is appearing live in various formats - solo, trio, quartet or with The Steam Quartet. He is also famous for live concerts on silent films (Chaplin, Shimitzu, Buster Keaton, Werckmeister), bringing new riches to material that's been around longer than most of us have been alive.

 

Rocco de Rosa Trio is a brand new project and production. Rocco is joined by two amazing Italian musicians, on accordion and frame drums, to produce a soundtrack like music of subtil synesthetic quality. New recording material will be released in 2018.
