ABOUT
Authentica's music erupts between the warmth of Mediterranean rhythms and the echoes of Celtic airs. She carries the folk traditions of Luxembourg into new life: a small country caught between North and South that has always stood at a crossroads. Its mythic legends are now given a contemporary breath.
Behind the name Authentica is Martina Menichetti, an Italian-Luxembourgish musician and composer fluent in seven languages, performing with her band, both traditional music she researches and reimagines, and original music of her own, moving between voice, flutes, whistles, keyboard, guitars and percussion, pulsing with fierce energy. From Irish and Scottish sessions to Breton fest-noz, from Galician foliadas to Italian pizzica nights, Martina travels to listen and dance, and brings it all home.
She is the first Luxembourgish artist to perform at Glasgow’s Celtic Connections festival, and has performed alongside artists such as Carlos Núñez and Dan Ar Braz, as well as opening for Afro Celt Sound System, Sharon Shannon, Mànran, Startijenn, Red Cardell and Gwennyn.
Her debut album, Out in the Light (2025, self-released), was praised as a "musically first-rate and conceptually original body of work".
Support
Authentica is supported by the Ministry of Culture, Kultur|LX Arts Council Luxembourg and Oeuvre Nationale.
Workshops & Cultural Mediation
Alongside her recordings and touring, Martina leads collective music-making experiences and multilingual workshops for all ages, drawing on her training in performance, musicology, theory and pedagogy. She has led projects ranging from intimate groups to large-scale collaborations with various prestigious institutions— most recently directing a 1,200-child choral project with the Orchestre Philharmonique of Luxembourg. Available as standalone workshops or paired with a concert booking.
