Kanazoé Orkestra are back with their highly anticipated fourth album "Balabeatz," a captivating blend of Afro-grooves deeply rooted in the West African, Burkinabé and Mandinka heritage.

The band is no stranger to the spotlight, having already captivated audiences, media, and industry professionals alike. Their debut album, "Miriya" (Buda Musique, 2015), was hailed as one of 2016's best African albums. They followed this success with "Tolonso" in 2019 and "Folikadi" in 2022, touring extensively across France, Europe, and Africa.​

Hailing from a long lineage of griots, Seydou Diabaté , aka Kanazoé, inherited his profound connection to the instrument from his father at an early age. Orphaned before the age of ten, he found his way to Bobo Dioulasso. There, under the guidance of his uncle. he carved out his path as a solo balafon player, performing and recording with various local bands.

 

His contacts and talent brought him to France in the early 2010s, where he established his own band - the Kanazoé Orchestra. The band, including artists from France and Africa, quickly made a name for themselves, crafting a sound that's not just musically innovative but also deeply resonant with socially conscious messages,

With their latest opus, "Balabeatz" (Antipodes Music, 2025), the Kanazoé Orkestra offer a truly unique musical experience where West African mystical griot culture converses with urban production from Nigeria or South Africa, and where musical virtuosity and trance converge with electronic and dance floor energy.
